Neo at 10 weeks after falling in a pond head first!

After the loss of Benji early last year, and a few months break the newest member of the milnersmutts crew arrived on sat 6th August 2011. Neo the red and white collie at 9 weeks was already living upto his breed characteristics of loving to play with toys and trying to herd fast moving objects. He is growing up fast but is a real cuddle monster, if you meet him on a social walk, he is all business and tends not to pay much attention to humans or dogs! Once I have a good picture I will pop it up here. Keep watching this space as in spring he starts his agility training and career in earnest, for now we are doing all the ground work to ensure I make the most of my agility training when it starts.

In Memory of Benji (KC name Mad As A Box of Frogs)

21 Nov 2007-01 Feb 2011

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to Benji. Benji was a complicated lad, his love for me was undeniable and it would manifest itself in lots of obsessive ways! He would be so sweet, if I was upset or crying he would climb on my lap and kiss (well lick) me better. He was very good at obedience although he did find it hard to concentrate when there were birds, planes or even clouds flying by but  he always had fun! He was very competitive or was that me.... anyway he definately helped me win a few games. He loved agility although he wanted to run his own course!! In so many ways he was the perfect dog, his recall was brilliant, he was always friendly to people and dogs, he even walked well on a lead.

What I remember the most was his love for running & fetching. Benji's perfect days would entail scent tracking in a wood, yipping with excitment! A game of chase with Jerry where eventually Jerry would let him win! A windy day in autumn with the leaves blowing off the trees, or a sunny day paddling in a stream or running into the surf at the beach!

Rest in peace my little lad

This is one of my favourite pictures of Jerry, he was only 10 weeks old which was 3.5 years ago, but he can still be found on the sofa in the same position. He is a very chilled out spaniel! Jerry won out of Grade 1 Agility in May 2011 and after a bit of a blip half way through the season, we hope that he will win out of grade 2 this season. I havent managed to get any action shots of Jerry in agility but I am hoping to get some this year so watch this space.

As for Pippin well she is doing ok and I hope that she too will start to get more clear rounds at agility. She is certainly happy now tht she has got use to Neo as she loves to play with him.
